Blackberry

BlackBerry is a line of mobile e-mail and smartphone devices developed and designed by Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM) since 1996.BlackBerry functions as a Personal Digital Assistant with address book, calendar and to-do list capabilities. It also functions as a portable media player with support for music and video playback and camera picture and video capabilities. BlackBerry is primarily known for its ability to send and receive (push) Internet e-mail wherever mobile network service coverage is present, or through Wi-Fi connectivity. BlackBerry is mainly a messaging phone with the largest array of messaging features in a Smartphone today. lackBerry's push gives BlackBerry devices their renowned battery life. All data on the phone is compressed through BIS. BlackBerry has about two thirds less data transfer than any other smartphone, while supplying the same information. The operating system used by BlackBerry devices is a proprietary multitasking environment developed by RIM. The operating system is designed for use of input devices such as the track wheel, track ball, and track pad.The OS provides support for Java MIDP 1.0 and WAP 1.2. Previous versions allowed wireless synchronization with Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail and calendar, as well as with Lotus Domino e-mail.BlackBerry PIN is an eight character hexadecimal identification number assigned to each BlackBerry device. PINs cannot be changed manually on the device (though Blackberry technicians are able to reset or update a PIN server-side), and are locked to each specific Blackberry. BlackBerrys can message each other using the PIN directly or by using the BlackBerry Messenger application.

Small form-factor pluggable transceiver

The small form-factor pluggable (SFP) or Mini-GBIC is a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver used for both telecommunication and data communications applications. It interfaces a network device mother board (for a switch, router, media converter or similar device) to a fiber optic or copper networking cable. It is a popular industry format supported by many network component vendors[citation needed]. SFP transceivers are designed to support SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and other communications standards.

4G

4G or Fourth Generation is future technology for mobile and wireless comunications. It will be the successor for the  3G  network technology. Currently 3G networks are under deployement. Approximatly 4G deployments are expected to be seen around 2010 to 2015.It is expected that in 4 G users will expect more and more bandwidth. A 4G system is expected to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based solution where facilities such as IP telephony, ultra-broadband Internet access, gaming services and streamed multimedia may be provided to users.

IP Multimedia Subsystem

This is an architecture for offering multimedia,VOIP services .This supports GSM,CDMA, Wireline, Broadband ..etc different access technologies. Thus each and every susbcriber residing in any place can access internet. It is also intended to allow operators to introduce new services, such as web browsing, WAP and MMS, at the top level of their packet-switched networksThis uses standard IP protocols as defined by IETF. So users will be able to access all their services . For that the interfaces used at the service providers end will also be IP based.
  • Presence services
  • Full Duplex Video Telephony
  • Instant messaging
  • Unified messaging
  • Multimedia advertising
  • Multiparty gaming
  • Videostreaming
  • Web/Audio/Video Conferencing
  • Push-to services, such as push-to-talk, push-to-view, push-to-video.
These are the areas  of importance when IPMS is implemented.
